Background :
Hyundai Motor Company has extended its strategic partnership with Shell Lubricants through 2031, renewing a five-year global business cooperation agreement that builds on more than two decades of collaboration dating back to 2005. The updated agreement centers on strengthening cooperation in future mobility through expanded joint research and development, service marketing, and motorsports initiatives.
Hyundai’s senior vice president and head of the global service sub-division said the extension builds on collaborative aftersales service marketing efforts that have enhanced the company’s global aftersales competitiveness and improved customer satisfaction by delivering Shell’s premium engine oils to customers worldwide. He said the renewed partnership positions both companies to respond proactively to changes in the future mobility market while creating greater customer value and strengthening long-term global competitiveness.
Going forward, the companies will continue joint service marketing activities while expanding research and development focused on next-generation mobility solutions, including improved engine oil quality and fluids and coolants designed for electric vehicles.
A Shell vice president for global key accounts and new business development said the companies have spent more than twenty years advancing lubricant technology and translating motorsport learnings into real-world benefits, and that collaboration will now expand into next-generation e-fluids, thermal management, digital innovation, and high-performance mobility.
As part of this expanded collaboration, Shell, which has held the position of top lubricants supplier globally for 19 consecutive years, has broadened its partnership with Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis, supplying specialized lubricants and coolants for Genesis Magma Racing’s endurance racing program and co-engineering lubricants for high-performance engines and electric vehicles within Hyundai’s N Division.
