Samsung and its affiliates have committed a combined $1 billion to Helix Digital, the KKR-backed US AI infrastructure company, to fuel its global buildout of AI capacity. Helix announced the funding, which brings major Samsung group companies together behind its plan.

Samsung Electronics will put in $500 million. Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance will supply the other $500 million. The five affiliates together match the electronics arm’s contribution.

The pledge adds to more than $10 billion in capital already committed to Helix’s strategy. The company invests in, delivers and manages infrastructure that powers AI, including hyperscale data centers, power generation and transmission, and fiber and connectivity assets.

Helix plans to draw on Nvidia technology, Samsung technology and Samsung’s energy storage capabilities to speed up the development and delivery of AI infrastructure. The company expects this mix of technologies to help it deliver projects faster.

Samsung said in a separate statement that the investment will speed the global rollout of AI data centers through Helix and open doors for collaboration among the participating Samsung affiliates.

Helix counts KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority and Nvidia among its anchor investors, alongside other backers who support its global expansion.
